- Rose analysing how Freudian Dave gets and having no words is hilarious.
- Rose telling Dave, tranquil as everything, that she knows their teen mom is drunk from experience broke my heart. At first it was because I had the certainty that Rose has had a lot of experience finding her mom drunkenly sleeping in unusual places, which was sad enough; then it was because I realized doomed Rose became an alcoholic.
There are people in fandom who’ve always pointed out that Rose was at prime risk to become an alcoholic as she grew up, and to see that confirmed that way was heartbreaking.

- also confirms that God Tier Rose has memories from her doomed timeline self. Ouch. I’d be interested to know whether it’s because she’s a Seer, or a Hero of Light, or something else entirely, but in any case: ouch.
Homestuck Headcanon on Troll Gender and Sex
Trolls have genders, but as far as I’m concerned they’re a unisex species: they have both a bulge and a nook. For dominant glands - or whatever we’re calling troll breasts - it depends on the physiology of each individual, and it has no bearing on the gender society assigns them. Actually, I think there’s no such thing as society-assigned gender on Alternia; the closest thing there is is knowing what gender your ancestor was.
There are all kinds of treatments that are easily accessible to anyone who wants their body to look different. Some of it is for practicality (boobs getting in the way), some of it is for self-representation…

I’m not against Magda or Erik’s kids showing up in a sequel (I’m surprised that Wanda and Pietro have never showed up in the X-Men movies, though if they appeared in XMFC 2 they’d have to be pretty young) but I have some reservations. 616!Erik’s refrigerator has a lot of women stuffed in it (mother and sister, Magda, Anya, Isabelle), which is super unfortunate. Since Erik’s core motivation in XMFC was avenging his mother, I hope the screenwriters do more than switch “dead mother” for “dead wife and daughter” for Tragic Backstory Angst.
That’s not a bad point. I think in Erik’s background Isabelle’s fridging is totally unnecessary (and was a bit wtf when it happened). But I think Magda and Anya is essential (Magda’s complicated though, because the amount to which there’s a tragedy for Erik because of her related more to her agency - choosing to run away and to leave her children to people who won’t let him have them - than to her ensuing death. A fact which I find interesting although would need work to make it flow without making her look too crazy).
But yeah, I kind of disliked how they emphasized Erik’s mother in XMFC - not so much the fridging aspect as the shift of emphasis from a very global, impersonal, institutional tragedy to something very personal. But now that’s done, if they want to bring in Magda and Anya, they’d need to be extra-careful to do it without instrumentalising them to Erik’s Tragic Manpain, yeah.
Bolded because this sums up most of my feelings regarding movies about WWII, and the cult of sentimentalism in today’s society.

augh I don’t want to have to choose another team no I just can’t decide.
I wish there was another f/f pairing that caught my eye. I feel a little like a traitor for feeling the need to do a f/m pairing (aren’t I too gay for this?) but if I do m/m then there’s like no chance of it having my favorite characters because for the most part all of my favorite characters are the female ones. like I’m trying to formulate a big long paragraph about how much I love the female characters in Homestuck, but nothing I could possibly say could do them justice. they’re just. great. and the male characters are pretty cool too but it seems like they’re all anybody cares about sometimes, so I don’t know it’s like their novelty has worn off (not that that’s all they were relying on) but the female characters are still relatively fresh.
or at least they’re relatively fresh in their being paired?
well anyway I think I’ll just sob tears of loneliness
and maybe regret trying to set the “give up” date so lateand probably join Team Eridan<3<Vriska when the time comes.
